My philosophy;

Henri de Toulouse Lautrec once said, "Ugliness has it's own beauty. I love to discover it where it's been seen by no one else." There was something in this quote that profoundly changed my very way of thinking and of teaching art.
You really can see beauty in everything. Case in point; as an art department in our school district, we traveled to State College to spend the day at the Palmer Museum. All of us art teachers toured the museum, looking at all the beautiful art, modern to masters. It was like being in Heaven as an artist. At noon, we took a restroom break before heading out for lunch. As we exited the restroom, my friend and I both, simultaneously said "Wow!" as we peered into the dim nook of a storage area next to where we were standing. The way that the folding chairs were stacked, piled high, and the way that the sun shown through those chairs cast a rhythmic pattern on the wall beyond, that was as beautiful as any of the works of art we had seen thus far.
I don't know how many times I have told that story to my middle school students. It really does open up new avenues of awareness.
Therefore, when flipping through this website, keep my little story in mind. That is why I paint buckets to wash your feet in before entering a concession stand, or a broken bride doll that, if it wasn't for my painting, would be just a memory of my childhood.
I love Bermuda so much that my ultimate goal is to have a one woman art show in Dockyard, Bermuda and the difference between my art show and others, is that my paintings (basically) will be subjects that other artists might not find 'profitable'. I am going to name my art show, ANOTHER VIEW OF BERMUDA and will feature people, places and things that I find attractive, such a a man who resembles a chicken or a hot dog stand that sits along the road to one of the most beautiful beaches in Bermuda, Horseshoe Bay.
