Finished the church painting in watercolor, worked more on the Bizarre Doll, oils, (that's her name right now and you'll soon know why), but put her aside to dry for a while because another painting will not leave my head. Horses! I have never in my life painted an animal, especially horses but I saw these 2 horses at an Amish farm on my way to Valley Gallery the other day and stopped to photograph them. They were lovely, snuggled together behind the wire fence. I had been watching them for a while. Always together, always happy. So, why not paint them. So, today Jack went with the guys to the Bloomsburg Fair and I have the whole day to play. I have them blocked out on the canvas with turp washes. Totally unsure of the outcome, but if they don't work, I will Gesso over it, won't be the first time. It is just fun to paint. I love the smell, the texture, the color, everything about oil painting.
Note the computer, cell phone, and importantly; Gushers! AND my Keb Mo station on Pandora, which you can probably hear in Muncy, I'm playing it that loud. The only way to paint!
I always had a dislike for horses, stemming back to my childhood (naturally) when I had to dust my little sister's dag-nammed glass horse collection. I wanted to step on each and every one of them, turning them back into the grains of sand on the beach where they originated. Ashes to ashes and glass back into sand, as they say. I do love horses today though. They are like big dogs.
